Time is of the Essence Work on the stain as quickly as possible. The longer it sits there, the more time it will have to set. Try blotting some of the excess oil/grease ASAP. 2. Break Out the Cornstarch or Baking Soda Use cornstarch or baking soda liberally on the stain. These powders will help to absorb the stain. Then, brush away the powder after about 15 minutes.
